Degree: Ph.D.
Format: HTML Network-accessible CD-ROM
Description:
I am doing a phenomenological research project using electronic and face-to-face conversations with graduate students who have used web-based computer conferencing as part of their MA program.
I am using a postmodern design to "write" my dissertation. Some of the textual pieces are linear in their presentation with hyperlinks, but the overall design is spatial. It is set up conceptually like a hologram where each piece of the dissertation is a perspective on the whole. The reader can begin anywhere in the dissertation and end anywhere. The dissertation is in HTML with animations created in Flash3. I will press it into a CD-ROM when it is complete.
I have also set up a collaborative bulletin board that links items in the dissertation to a discussion place for faculty to share their views in Hypernews.
Currently, my dissertation is password protected. I will make it available for a brief period of time after it is complete. I hope to have it complete by 1999.
